PLACE (Passion Learning and Community Engagement) is Landing Trail’s approach to providing students with hands-on, meaningful learning opportunities that are directly aligned with the Alberta Curriculum and our school’s Education Plan. Each session is approximately 12 classes long, and over the course of the year, every child will rotate through all the options.
PLACE is a pre-CTF/CTS program. At this age, students are not expected to specialize but instead to explore a wide range of interests and passions. This aligns with our focus on Empowered Student Learning, providing students with opportunities to develop curiosity, confidence, and foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving.
Each option is carefully planned to address curricular outcomes in areas such as Science, fine arts, physical education, and Indigenous perspectives. Through PLACE, we also support Healthy School Communities (including belonging, teamwork, and resilience) and Future Readiness (encompassing creativity, collaboration, and leadership).
