Vice Principal

Over the past 32 years, Allan has taught Elementary and Junior High in rural and urban settings.  Previously starting his career with Edmonton Public Schools, Allan joined Sturgeon Public Schools with teaching at the Oak Hill Ranch for 20 years, and then another 7 years as Principal and TCI Instructor. Allan moved on to take on the Vice-Principalship at Guthrie School, which was a homecoming for him, as he was raised in an Armed Forces family and often visited Lancaster Park when it was an airbase.

Allan has completed his LQS certification, his Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and his Master's in Special Education from Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia. Allan values hearing and listening to people’s life story. He believes it is from knowing and understanding each other's story that brings a genuine understanding to help people overcome the challenges they experience. Between 2011 to 2019, Allan traveled on three occasions to help the village of Marare in Uganda, become sustainable by helping to build a school, teacher quarters, school kitchen, water wells and latrines. The experience was transformational for the community and for the team Allan traveled with.

Allan feels fortunate to be part of Landing Trail School and sees it as a privilege to work with the staff and community to collaborate at ensuring every student is supported to reach their greatest potential.
