2025/2026 Staggered Start

As we prepare for the new 2025/2026 school year, we want to communicate important information about how we will begin the year. All Sturgeon Public Schools students will have a staggered start to the school year to reduce student anxiety and improve communication of student conduct and school expectations.

The staggered start days will be August 28 and August 29.

For Landing Trail students, all students from Grades 1 to 4 will have staggered entry times, according to last names, as follows:

August 28, 2025

August 29, 2025

(Gr. 1-4) Last names starting A-K

(Gr. 1-4) Last names starting L-Z

Pre-Kindergarten students will receive a phone call at the end of June.

Kindergarten students will receive a letter before the start of classes.

*Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten students: Please follow your designated start dates.

We aim to provide a smooth transition for students and families, and staggered start dates will help us achieve this goal.

Finer Details

Transportation

  • Buses will run their regular routes and schedules.
  • Transportation will communicate with drivers on which days students will attend each day.
  • On both staggered days, buses will be practicing routes and timing, so you may see buses stopping at stops with no students.

Arrival

  • All families are asked to use the main entrance on both staggered days.
  • Upon arrival, families should meet in the gym, where homeroom teachers will meet students to take them to their classrooms.
  • Staff will be available in the gym all day to help families and students find their classrooms.
  • We welcome families to join us in the gym for refreshments and to meet teachers.

Classroom Assignments

  • Grades 1-4 classroom assignments will be shared with families via Powerschool on June 30th @ 4:00 pm.

Assembly

We will hold an assembly at 2:15 p.m. at the end of each staggered start day so that all students and their families can meet Landing Trail School staff.

Supplies

Attendance

  • Students will attend the whole day.
  • Students should bring their supplies, snacks, lunch and a water bottle.

Regular classes for ECS to grade 4 will begin on Tuesday, September 2nd.
